How do I become a guardian for my child?:
Contact Guardianship Alliance of Colorado (303) 423-2898.

How do I access services for my child?:
In Denver call Denver Options (303) 636-5600 for information on intake and eligibility.

What training / seminars are available in Denver?:
Please see our Events calendar for our seminars and links to other training groups.

Can you come to my child's IEP?:
Our first attempt will be to provide parents with information and techniques to prepare for a successful IEP meeting. However, due to the number of students on IEPs in Denver Public Schools, we simply cannot attend every meeting.

Can you help me with Social Security, Medicaid or other Medicaid benefits?:
Social Security and Medicaid issues often require one-on-one discussion. Please call our referral line at (303) 831-7733 to be directed to an Arc of Denver Advocate or to the appropriate agency for technical assistance.

How can I find mental health assistance or a psychiatrist that takes Medicaid?:
The starting point is to consider the following area resources:
1.) EPSDT serves children and young people through the age of 20. An Outreach Coordinator may be reached at (303) 692-2292.
2.) one's private insurance and,
3.) Empower Colorado provides Support, Education and Advocacy for parents and families of children with mental health issues (brain disorders):

How can I get childcare or maintain the current childcare setting?:

I need someone to go to court with me. Can you come? Are there legal resources that you can help me with?:
The Arc staff are familiar with private, public, and non-profit legal offices; will be happy to assist you in finding the one the best suits your needs. We may be also able to assist by making phone calls and processing documents.

How do I schedule a pick-up to donate items?:

I was scheduled for a pick-up today and the truck has not come. Who do I notify?:
Please call (303) 238-5263 to see if the truck is late or still scheduled to arrive. But be reminded that trucks may arrive any time between 8 am and 5 pm for a pickup.

Do you take water beds?:
No.

Do you take appliances?:
Only free-standing appliances in good condition.

Do you take mattresses? What other items cannot be accepted?:
Laws forbid the redistribution of used mattresses so we cannot accept them. Other items that we cannot accept include: aluminum cans, box springs, building materials, carpet padding, cast iron stoves, sinks, tubs, child car seats, copy machines, curtain rods, fencing, flammable liquids, food (except during food drives), furnaces, garage doors/openers, gas logs, glass, hangers, hazardous waste, hot tubs, mangles, metal desks, mirrors without frame, newspapers, oxygen tanks, plastic gutters, propane tanks, scrap metal, scrap paper, sheds, strips of carpet, tires, trash compactors, TV outdoor antennas, water heaters, water softeners, waterbeds and accessories and window blinds.
