About Us

The Arc of Denver, Inc. is a 501(c)3 Non-profit membership association dedicated to protecting the rights of people with cognitive disorders and children with special educational needs. We empower people with developmental disabilities and their families to participate fully in community life.

We provide individual advocacy services and affordable legal representation. Advocacy is the act of hearing out a constituent’s needs and assisting them in navigating the complex system of available benefits.

We offer training presentations to service professionals, such as police officers, nurses, and teachers.

We influence public policy by providing reliable information to those entrusted with the public care. Our largest success in 2006 was to help change the Medicaid billing system so that families will be able to see what the services cost. They will have the information to decide which services will be the most useful given the monetary constraints.

We also educate the community about our programs. We publish our newsletter, the Voice, three times yearly and we post information on this website. Currently, one may visit our offices to reference our collection. We hope to make our library available online as a community resource in 2007.
